Life after Kickstarter
While our Kickstarter campaign wasn't successful in meeting its funding goal, we succeeded in doing two things:
1) Meeting all of you--all our awesome backers and supporters.
2) Getting some great coverage and exposure. It wasn't enough to fund the Kickstarter, but it was more than enough to make a significant impact in the industry.
As stated in numerous interviews and press articles, we will fight to make Pixel Noir a reality for all of us. By hail or high-water. This is, of course, easier said than done, but we have a few paths open to us. As many backers have suggested, we may choose to de-scope the game a bit and release another Kickstarter a few months down the road.
Or we may develop the game ourselves over a longer development timeline.
Or we may even reach back out to publishers to see if we can work with a publisher who will allow us to keep Pixel Noir true to its core design.
In fact, we are already exploring all of these possibilities and others (such as Steam Greenlight). The bottom line is that the fight is not over in 10 hours. In fact, the fight has just begun. And we hope you will be there right beside us with pistol raised and shotgun cocked.
Get ready. Because we're going to build a game together.
Cheers,
Kunal, Business & Audio Lead

Hi Kunal and the team Great to see how positive you have come out of the Kickstarter even though it didnt go as well as we all would have liked. Everyone I told/showed the project to was excited and im sure at least 10 backers extra were because of me (ur welcome lol) Hope to see people playing this soon and like I put in my last Kickstarter post. Dont allow some big publisher to exploit your core idea and water it down as they see $ signs. Go hard or go home. Good luck guys

Hey guys,
Shame this didn't reach the mark. I'm shocked really as it looks absolutely incredible. I'm an ex-developer coming from a background in PSP Mini's and PSN titles. If there is anything I can do to help please let me know. I also do PR, Community management and more. I think it's great that you guys got such a positive response from the Kickstarter even if didn't meet it's goal and can't wait to see this game come to release.
Hit me up if there's ever anything I can do,
Paddy Murphy

I think that it's just been a rough time. You guys & gals have the drive to make it happen, but you're right: more exposure!! Therefore, we, the fans, will do what we can to make that happen. For a game like this, it's going to take a bit more time to sink in. However, it will sink in. The soundtrack itself is a good key to this! I say this all while listening to it...

It's a sad news, but count with me to keep funding this project! I think this will be a great game to my Vita collection. Good luck!

I bet doing the Kickstarter the first time around was a real learning experience. If there is a 2nd kickstarter attempt, I have a sneaking suspicion you guys will be a lot more successful!

I'll be supporting this going forward. As many others have said, a 2nd kick starter will probably be more successful.

Shame it didn't hit the target but we will wait for this game to come out for as long as it takes! Keep it true to what we have all seen and are excited for so far, Rome wasn't built in a day and all that Good luck!

Yep! Just a bump in the road. Looking forward to this game and "in" (again) if a second Kickstarter drops in the future!

Really glad to hear you're pushing forward with Pixel Noir, Kunal! This was a pleasant surprise for me at PAX East. Whenever you do decide on a course of action moving forward, let me know and we'll get some coverage going on RETRO Magazine. Of course, if you ever do decide to have VO or need someone for any PR, marketing, community work, I'm available and willing. This is an awesome concept and would love nothing more than to see it fully fleshed out as it was initially intended to be.

I'm consistently surprised by the dedication of our backers. You guys don't really owe us a thing, so sticking with our project means alot.

There are definitely not enough detective games that aren't hidden-object, nor many in the noire genre for that matter. I hope you guys are able to carry on developing such a brilliant game/idea!

Just wanted to log in and say that while I'm dismayed about the way the kickstarter ended I'm confident that you will persevere and get this game out. Was, and still am very excited about this title, you guys rock!

If there is another kickstarter I will put in money again! I loved the preview at PAX East, so hopefully it will shape out in the near future! -If you need any VA/VO work done, I work for peanuts

You all have my full support for making this dream into a reality! I was really hyped for the game when I heard about it, and I still am. It's a good idea you have, and I'm glad that you didn't waver from your initial vision too much.

I'm glad that SWD Tech hasn't given up. I'll support the project, no matter how you decide to take it forward.
I hope you'll give Kickstarter another shot. I've seen lots of games make it on the second effort, after they had a chance to digest the lessons learned from the first time around.

Yep, dthrasher is right. Kickstarter projects tend to do a lot better the second time around because of the cumulative exposure plus learning from mistakes. Anything you guys can do to keep the integrity of the project as you have envisioned it should be priority #1. I'll gladly fund again for that.

Are you saying that Kickstarter is definitely not an option anymore? And I can't say enough how gorgeous the samples you showed on the kickstarters were.

A kickstarter relaunch is still an option for us. However we aren't sure if we are going to pursue that option at this point since we have some other opportunities (we can't disclose at the moment) that the failed kickstarter has given us.
Thanks for the love.
